This may sound a little bit strange, but I'd prefer that there was no story behind Rainbow Cube. In many ways, I wish Rainbow Cube hadn't come into existence at all.

Let me explain...

Back in July 2007, my sister-in-law passed away very suddenly after being in hospital for a short time. Pamela was only 34 years old. My wife lost her sister, my daughter lost an auntie and everyone who knew her lost someone who was very special. Pamela was someone who lived life to the full and rarely would you find her without a smile on her face. She was fit and healthy, had a great job and had good friends. No matter where she was or who she was with, Pamela was always able to chat and make people feel at ease. She was a wonderful person and will always be greatly missed.

Through Pamela's death, Perceptus started to carry out some work for a funeral business and we soon realized that there was a lot could be done to help the typical funeral director use technology to improve how their day-to-day business was managed. And so the idea for this software was conceived. There are other products out there that do the same thing, but we wanted ours to be simpler and more user friendly, yet still adding great value to the business. So the project got under way in 2008.

Rainbow Many hours were spent looking for a name for the software. We knew that we wanted to have some sort of link to Pamela there - after all, it was through her untimely death that this opportunity came about. So drawing on a story from Pamela's last week alive where she looked out from the hospital and saw a beautiful rainbow stretch across the sky, we decided on rainbow. We will never forget Pamela, and this will just serve as a little reminder that good can sometimes come from painful situations.

And the cube bit? Well, the cube is a basic building block and we hope that soon this software will be a basic building block for a large number of funeral businesses. So there you have it - how Rainbow Cube came into being.
